Borat Sagdiyev struggles to make a living in Kazakhstan as a TV reporter amidst well known beliefs that his country's economy suffers because of Jews. He is selected by his Government to travel to the United States of America and submit a report on its society and culture, to which he agrees. Accordingly, he and his producer Azamat Bagatov set out to experience America first-hand. Both then attempt to learn the American culture and proper etiquette, especially when using the restroom and the elevator. While doing so, Borat watches Baywatch and falls hopelessly in love with Pamela Anderson. His original quest forgotten, he convinces Azamat to head out to California in a dilapidated van filled with assorted animals. When the van breaks down they hitchhike through the land of the mighty 'warlord' George W. Bush, so that Borat may fulfill his desire of meeting and eventually marrying Ms. Anderson

This was a surreal experience, I am curious to see that scene now. How didn't they burst out laughing? I am Romanian and due to the totalitarian regime I was part of for all my childhood and youth, I learned to enjoy real situational comedy that was making fun of the regime and society of the time. That was apparently in your face, raw humor, but rather subtle and genuine that could make you laugh and cry at the same time.
This movie does not deserve to be called racist or offensive or comic or smart or anything. It attempts in a very childish way to extract some laughs, that's all. Any 7 year old can make fun of people this way.
I cannot comprehend why the North American public likes this low and childish humor, other than to think that most regular citizen born on this continent live within some boundaries and clichés that make them narrow minded. Perhaps the people in this society that collectively attributed such a high rating to this movie have not been exposed enough to hardship and tragedy in order to be able to use real humor to laugh at itself other than using gross jokes.
I was upset, angry and frustrated after seeing this movie and I profoundly regret every penny I spent on the ticket and if there was any way to recover them I would be first in line. Don't be the next one, please.

When a genius is directly in front of you. But you recognize him as stupid. The lawyer is worse then borat. what a farce. now they are scammed twice. I stopped working was a poor choice of words hahaha. Haha the part where the interviewer tells Borat that he's Jewish and Borat just stands up and leaves. so freaking funny. I'm really high and just had to rent this tonight. absolute classic. The word is Apatow wants a sequel and hes not alone. How can he walk so easily with this heavy balls. The jewish guy is matt zaller lol a comedian, this is staged still funny tho.
